UNION GAS LIMITED
FE DOCKET NO. 96-76-NG
On October 31, 1996, the Department of Energy (DOE) granted authorization to Union Gas Limited (Union) in DOE/FE Order No. 1214 (Order 1214) (1 FE ¶ 71,328) to import and export up to a combined total of 200 Bcf of natural gas from and to Canada, over a two-year term beginning on the date of first import or export delivery after December 31, 1996. Deliveries of natural gas have not begun.
On July 24, 1998, Union notified the Office of Fossil Energy of DOE that as of January 1, 1998, Union and Centra Gas Ontario, Inc., also an import/export authorization holder, had become a single, amalgamated company under the Union name. Union requested a new import/export authorization for the amalgamated company. That authorization has been granted in a separate Order issued as of this date and, therefore, the authority granted in Order 1214 is no longer necessary.
Accordingly, pursuant to section 3 of the Natural Gas Act, the authorization to import and export natural gas granted to Union in Order 1214 is hereby vacated, effective August 15, 1998.
Issued in Washington, D.C., on August 12, 1998.
