On November 29, 1996, the Department of Energy (DOE) granted blanket authorization to Eastern Energy marketing, Inc. (Eastern ) in DOE/FE Order No. 1224 (Order 1224)(1) to import and export up to a combined total of 110 Bcf of natural gas from and to Canada over a two-year term beginning on the date of first import or export delivery after December 7, 1996. Deliveries of natural gas under this authorization began on December 8, 1996, and authority will expire on December 7, 1998.
On September 3, 1998, the Office of Fossil Energy of DOE was notified that Eastern's name has been changed to Statoil Energy, Inc. effective May 20, 1998. Accordingly, pursuant to section 3 of the Natural Gas Act, Order 1224 is amended to substitute Statoil Energy, Inc. as the importer and exporter of natural gas. All terms and conditions in Order 1224 remain in full force and effect.
