Washington Natural Gas Company (Washington Natural) is currently authorized by DOE/FE Opinion and Order No. 324(1) (Order 324) to import 25,000 MMBtu per day (24,038 Mcf /d) of natural gas from Amoco Canada Petroleum Company Ltd. and Encor Energy Corporation, in accordance with a long-term gas sales agreement (the Agreement) dated November 28, 1988. The term of the Agreement expires October 31, 1999.
On August 25, 1998, Puget Sound Energy, Inc.(2) (PSE) notified the Office of Fossil Energy (FE) of the Department of Energy that Washington Natural and Puget Sound Power and Light had merged to form PSE, and requested OFE to transfer Washington Natural's import authority to PSE.
Accordingly, pursuant to section 3 of the Natural Gas Act, the authorization to import natural gas granted to Washington Natural in Order 324 is amended to substitute Puget Sound Energy, Inc. as the importer of natural gas.
